Senior psychologist/psychological practitioner

Tewkesbury
Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust
Posted: 8 July
Offer description

1x Fixed Term contract/secondment opportunity for up to 6 months

Internal applicants who wish to be considered for a secondment opportunity should discuss with their line manager the suitability of a possible secondment

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced psychological practitioner to join the Staff Mental Health and Wellbeing Hub, known as The Wellbeing Line.

This is a psychology-led service funded by the NHS to support staff working in health and care organisations across Gloucestershire. You would join a supportive, creative, and dynamic team, committed to the ongoing development and delivery of this innovative service.

The delivery model of The Wellbeing Line is currently being reviewed as part of a system-wide evaluation of staff well-being support. The successful candidate would support the service lead to ensure ongoing day-to-day delivery and contribute to continuous service development. The role requires an enthusiastic and adaptable team member with excellent organisational skills and the ability to use their own initiative. As a home-based service, we have developed an excellent support system within the team, allowing for flexibility within core working hours.

We seek a practitioner experienced in delivering support to groups and/or teams (e.g., reflective practice, compassion-focused or mindfulness-based support, psycho-education, post-incident debrief) interested in working alongside colleagues (e.g., HR/OD and Occupational Health) to influence culture change regarding staff wellbeing at work.

The Wellbeing Line focuses on preventative and proactive interventions. The successful candidate will provide consultation and training to clinical and non-clinical staff in various settings (e.g., hospital, community, care homes, GP surgeries). Other duties include supervising junior staff, analyzing and presenting data, and helping develop bespoke projects. Experience supporting via virtual platforms is essential.

The post involves delivering primarily team and group-based interventions, offering 1:1 consultation to team leads, supervising assistant psychologists, and developing new projects while evaluating the service. Experience working with staff groups/teams and understanding compassion-focused approaches, trauma-informed practice, and neurodiversity are particularly relevant.

We have a skilled workforce of over 5,000 colleagues across 55 sites and in people's homes. We aim to foster a welcoming culture that values civility, inclusivity, diversity, belonging, and trust.

Our annual staff surveys and engagement opportunities show high staff satisfaction, with 61% providing feedback. Highlights include:

* 72% would recommend the Trust as a place to work, ranking 1st among Provider Trusts in the South West.
* 76% would recommend our care services if a friend or relative needed treatment, also ranking 1st in the region.
* 81% prioritize patient and service user care, compared to 64% in similar NHS trusts.

We are committed to becoming a Great Place to Work, aiming for top-quartile performance in staff surveys and Pulse surveys.
