Aspire is a partnership between ADS and Rotherham, Doncaster and South Humber NHS Foundation Trust (RDaSH). It combines the strengths of both NHS provision under the leadership of a consultant with the strengths of the voluntary sector provided by ADS. The partnership has worked together for over 20 years providing Drug and Alcohol Services to our local communities. It is a forward thinking and innovative partnership that works closely with the recovery communities it serves to provide flexible, responsive services which offer the best possible outcomes for its service users and community it serves.
Peer Mentors - People come into services for many reasons. Once they’re in the first step has been taken on the road to recovery though most cannot see it at the time. One of the things that can help is to meet someone who has ‘been there’ and who has made some of those changes, someone who is living proof that there is a way out. Peer mentors share their stories with others and offer support to people beginning their recovery journeys. Offering friendship and encouragement, peer mentors play a valuable role in motivating others and helping to build social skills and contacts. Peer mentors are different from professional staff and the focus is on building a supportive friendship. This is often first step in building a social circle. Such a network of friends is key to recovery, friends are people who you have fun with and who will offer you support even when you are out of treatment.
Volunteers - We also welcome volunteers without lived experience who can spare some time to share their interests and support the reintegration of service user into their community.
All Volunteers and Peer Mentors will undertake an accredited training programme.
