Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated HGV Mechanic to join our maintenance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for inspecting, repairing, and maintaining heavy goods vehicles (HGV Tankers) to ensure optimal safety and performance. Combined with working inside the workshop you will also attend breakdowns of our own vehicles as and when required. Duties
* Conduct routine inspections and diagnostics on HGVs to identify faults or potential issues.
* Prepare vehicles for onward sale or rental
* Perform repairs and maintenance on engines, brakes, transmissions, steering systems, and other vehicle components.
* Replace worn or damaged parts with genuine or approved components.
* Maintain accurate records of all work carried out, including parts used and time taken.
* Ensure all work complies with health and safety standards and manufacturer specifications.
* Assist in the planning of preventative maintenance schedules to minimise downtime.
* Use specialised tools and diagnostic equipment effectively to troubleshoot complex mechanical problems.
* Keep the workshop clean, organised, and safe at all times.
Requirements
* Proven experience as an HGV Mechanic or similar role specialising in heavy goods vehicles.
* Relevant qualifications such as NVQ Level 3 in Vehicle Maintenance or equivalent.
* Strong understanding of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and vehicle diagnostics.
* Ability to read technical manuals and schematics accurately.
* Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
* Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
* Valid UK driving licence; additional certifications such as CPC or ADR are advantageous.
* Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. This position is ideal for motivated individuals eager to maintain high standards of vehicle safety and reliability within a professional setting.
