Summary / Role Purpose
The Senior Manager R&D joins the Materials Business Unit to lead the development of major applications such as Granta MI. This role involves planning, resource management, and tracking project progress. The Senior Manager R&D will also handle line management and personal development of team members, facilitate team work, and collaborate on quality assurance practices. A hybrid work model with 2 days on-site per week is preferred.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
* Ensure timely completion of projects meeting quality standards
* Verify product implementations meet specifications
* Follow appropriate methods and procedures
* Recruit, develop, and retain high-performing talent
* Create a positive team culture aligned with Ansys values
* Oversee multiple teams or units, often via subordinate managers
* Lead teams to develop robust solutions for Materials data management
* Guide software development and testing activities
Minimum Education/Certification and Experience
* BS in Engineering, Materials Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or related with 12 years’ experience; MS with 10 years; PhD with 8 years
* At least 3 years of management experience
* Significant experience with C#, .NET, SQL, TypeScript, Python, C++, or similar
* Proven leadership with successful product releases
* Experience managing software teams
Preferred Qualifications and Skills
* Expertise in C#, SQL Server, TypeScript, Python, C++, with leadership in these technologies
* Experience leading technical efforts for large-scale products
* Ability to translate business requirements into roadmaps
* Strong communication skills for stakeholders and teams
* Ability to mentor and drive success across teams and geographies
* Experience with scalable enterprise solutions and cloud applications
This role offers a flexible schedule, with a preference for working 3 days in the office and 2 days remote.
