Join Schindler – a Top Employer 2025 company – as we are recruiting for a Service Technician to join our team based out of our Coventry and covering the Midlands & South West area. This is a full‑time and permanent role focused on preventative maintenance, scheduled servicing of lift and escalator equipment, safety inspections and closure of open non‑conformity to current legislation or standards.


Responsibilities

* Carrying out routine servicing of lift/escalator equipment, including minor repair work and the routine replacement of components in accordance with approved company procedures (PPE, PDA, Expert+ etc).
* Rectifying and reducing faults on lift/escalator equipment in cases of breakdown and checking to confirm correct functioning.
* Checking the lift/escalator function as part of maintenance, checks including speed, motor start/stop, weight, noise, temperature and power supplies using approved company‑issued tooling and protective equipment.
* Carrying out the routine inspection and adjustment of lift/escalator in accordance with approved procedures.
* Reinstating lift/escalator and completing service documentation.
* Carrying out more advanced fault finding and diagnostic procedures using a range of techniques, technical manuals and appropriate test equipment, restoring equipment to service. Competence is required to make effective use of written or graphical information.
* Carrying out site surveys and attending all relevant training sessions to keep up to date on technical knowledge and skills.
* Working in accordance with the Company’s Safety and environmental policies and procedures to ensure compliance with current UK legal requirements and Schindler Group safety requirements, as well as setting a personal example of safe behaviour.
* Contributing to the Company safety objectives, where necessary by maintaining/monitoring current safety systems under their direct control and implementing agreed changes (where applicable) to its safety management system.


Qualifications

* Experience in Lift/Escalator Servicing/Maintenance/Repairs preferred.
* Qualified to NVQ level 3 minimum in Lift/Escalator maintenance or equivalent.
* Willingness to work towards Schindler Certification Level 3 Red.
* Advanced Electrical and Mechanical knowledge, including Multi‑Brand equipment.
* Advanced problem‑solving skills.
* The ability to work under pressure, to deadlines and within efficiencies.
* The ability to work independently with a flexible approach.
* Good communication skills at different levels (Client/Service Leader/Inspectors).
* Manual dexterity – Requires the use of hands, arms and feet for repetitive lifting; use of hands and arms to operate various hand and power tools and to record written information.
* Proven fault‑finding and diagnostic skills.
* Good administration skills and punctuality.
* Full UK driving licence.
