Job Summary:
As an apprentice, you will gain a comprehensive understanding of our continuous manufacturing process. You will develop skills and knowledge to manufacture fibre optic cables and micro ducts utilizing polymer extrusion technology. By joining our business as an apprentice, you will earn an apprenticeship in Advanced Manufacturing & Engineering.
In partnership with Colchester Institute, you will participate in a day-release program to gain an EAL Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Knowledge), Mechatronics Maintenance Technician pathway. The role reports to the Operations Manager via a Shift Team Leader. Our location is on Parham Airfield, near Framlingham, so your own transport is necessary.
Impact and Responsibilities:
* Be part of a team undertaking a range of supporting tasks, including:
* Using mechanical skills to undertake production engineering setup activities.
* Operation of cable extrusion lines.
* Utilising industry-leading equipment and technologies to acquire production data.
* Maintenance and cleaning of tooling and equipment.
* Ensuring excellent quality by inspecting finished products.
* Training employees on-the-job to learn the cable extrusion process.
Once trained, you will become a process technician capable of running cable extrusion lines from start to finish.
Candidate Requirements:
* An enthusiasm and desire to learn.
* Career aspirations to grow within Belden.
* Minimum of GCSE grades 9-4 (A-C) in English, Maths, and Science, or equivalent, or willingness to work towards these during the apprenticeship.
Successful completion of the apprenticeship is just the beginning of your career with Belden. Support is available for further studies at HNC, Foundation Degree, and Degree levels to support your career aspirations.
