We are looking for a compassionateand enthusiastic individual with experience working with children and youngpeople in foster care and residential settings. Expertise in partnershipworking as part of a multi-agency approach, and experience in deliveringspecialist attachment interventions is desirable.
Therole is suitable for an experienced Social Worker, Mental Health Nurse, ChildPsychotherapist, Applied Psychologist, or Systemic Psychotherapist.
Main duties of the job
The role will involveproviding specialist assessments and therapeutic interventions for children andyoung people in foster care or residential children's homes.
The postholder will berequired to develop psychologically informed formulations to supportappropriate placement recommendations as part of a multi-agency approach.
The post involves theprovision of consultation, supervision, and training for other professionals.

Job responsibilities
To providespecialist assessments and therapeutic interventions for young people who arelooked after by the local authority, and to care leavers, including childrenand young people living in residential childrens homes and foster placements.
Tocontribute to complex decision making around the childs emotional wellbeingand mental health needs within their placement.
To provideregular consultations to the team of professionals around the child to ensurethe childs psychological needs are well understood and to support others inmeeting the childs needs.
To providepsychological support to children and families who are experiencing (or haveexperienced) serious emotional trauma, bereavement, relationship difficultiesor placement disruption, and also to provide support to parents, carers andstaff working with such clients.
To workautonomously and collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team around thechild, providing consultation, advice, guidance, support and teaching to otheragencies/ professionals such as local authority social workers.
Tofacilitate multi-agency consultations and contribute to systemic thinkingwithin complex networks supporting looked after children and care leavers.
To providewritten summaries and reports to the multidisciplinary team around the childfollowing assessment and consultation.
To providead-hoc support and advice to local authority staff and carers.
Beresponsible for ensuring clinical outcome data is routinely entered andappropriately collated.
Tocontribute to service development work.
To provideclinical and managerial supervision to less experienced staff.
To assessand monitor risk and draw up appropriate risk management plans. To providegeneral advice to other professionals on risk assessment and management.
Tocommunicate in a skilled and sensitive manner, information concerning theassessment, formulation and treatment plans, and to monitor and evaluateprogress during the course of care.
Person Specification
Additional Requirements
* Ability to tolerate multiple accounts of traumatic histories and manage the emotional impact appropriately.
Knowledge
* Demonstrate specialist knowledge and expertise in working with highly vulnerable and traumatised children and young people.
* Full understanding/application of relevant clinical practice/standards/audit within identified clinical area i.e. (NICE Guidelines on Attachment Disorder, Looked After Children).
Qualifications
* Professional Health or Social Care qualification and registered with appropriate clinical professional body/ organisation (e.g. Social Work, Nursing, or Psychology (Educational, Counselling, Clinical or Forensic) and be registered with the relevant statutory body (e.g. NMC, HCPC, ACP, BABCP, UKCP, SWE, or BACP).
* Educated to degree level or equivalent as required for registration with professional body.
* Evidence of formal post graduate learning within a relevant CAMHS field or skill.
* Additional therapy qualifications (e.g., DDP, EMDR, family therapy or systemic practice).
Experience
* Demonstrate extensive post-registration experience and expertise delivering evidence based / best practice clinical interventions.
* Experience of working with looked after children and the systems that support Children & Young People.
* Experience of providing specialist consultation/ training and advice to partner agencies.
* Expertise in applying a trauma informed approach to working with children in care.
* Experience of providing clinical supervision.
