About the Service
The SEND Service is responsible for delivering statutory functions relating to special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). This includes coordinating education, health and care needs assessments and maintaining all Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). The team works in partnership with children and young people (0-25), their families, schools, and professionals across education, health and social care.
About the Role
As a SEND Coordinator, you will manage the end-to-end process of EHCPs for children and young people with SEND. You will be the key contact for families throughout the assessment and planning stages, ensuring the right support is in place across education, health and care.
Your responsibilities will include:
* Managing a caseload of EHCPs and leading statutory EHC needs assessments.
* Presenting cases to the SEN Panel and coordinating input from relevant agencies.
* Drafting, finalising and reviewing EHCPs in close collaboration with families.
* Leading annual reviews and supporting transitions (e.g. Secondary Transfer).
* Monitoring the delivery of provision outlined in EHCPs and addressing issues where needed.
* Working in partnership with parents, schools, and professionals to find solutions for complex needs.
This is a vital and rewarding role that helps deliver life-changing support for children and young people with SEND.
Qualifications
* GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent).
Skills and Experience
* In-depth knowledge of SEN legislation, including the SEND Code of Practice.
* Strong understanding of services across education, health, and social care.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Experience managing statutory SEND processes, including assessments and annual reviews.
* Ability to draft clear, concise, and legally compliant plans and documents.
* Skilled in partnership working across multi-agency environments.
* Confident using ICT systems and digital tools.
* High level of organisation and ability to work to deadlines in a fast-paced setting.
* Understanding of safeguarding, equality, and disability issues.
