Looking for a rewarding new opportunity as Inpatient Service Manager?

We have an exciting opening for an experienced and motivated candidate to join our Inpatient unit leadership team. The role of Inpatient Service Manager is a part‑time (0.60 WTE) role based at the Pamela Bryant Inpatient unit at Teddington Memorial Hospital and is part of a job share.


Main duties of the job

* The Pamela Bryant Inpatient unit is a 28‑bedded facility within Teddington Memorial Hospital (TMH) for patients that require the provision of a suitable environment and needs assessment, observation, rehabilitation and levels of nursing and therapy care that is over and above that offered by the community nursing and therapy teams.
* As part of our team, you will work jointly with the current Inpatient Service Manager to provide leadership to the multi‑disciplinary team ensuring the service is well led and improving health outcomes for our patients.
* The Inpatient Unit Service Manager will be responsible for the development and delivery of the service in the Inpatient Unit and will contribute to the strategic planning of the Unit and ensure effective multidisciplinary working, effective financial management and the efficient use of all resources.
* You’ll need excellent communication and leadership skills to succeed in this role, as well as a real passion for providing top‑quality care to your patients. We welcome candidates with experience of leading, managing and motivating staff preferably in a similar environment.
* This is an ideal role for a motivated band 7 or current 8a to take on a new challenge in a highly supportive leadership team.

Person Specification


Qualifications

* A relevant professional qualification in nursing, or AHP and current registration with the relevant professional body
* Post‑graduate leadership qualification or equivalent experience
* Willingness to work towards continued professional and practice development through leadership training/courses
* Additional leadership qualification


Experience

* Substantial post‑qualification experience of working in a statutory Health or Social Care setting demonstrating increasing levels of responsibility, preferably in a multi‑disciplinary team
* Substantial experience of leading, managing and motivating staff including performance management and staff development to deliver high quality results.
* Experience of working across organisational boundaries and integrated working
* Experience of achieving positive outcomes for patients and through multi‑disciplinary and partnership working.
* Experience of managing successful change programmes, working across service areas to improve and develop service delivery.
* Experience of identifying and managing risk in line with Inter‑Agency Safeguarding Adults Procedures
* Experience of managing budgets effectively
* Experience of managing and reporting on performance data and targets
* Experience of recent involvement in practice/service development
* Experience of facilitating and delivering training
* Experience of professional supervision of staff
* Experience of audit/ evaluating clinical practice
* Experience of working in a rehabilitation/enablement or intermediate care context
* Experience of managing an Inpatient unit


Skills, Abilities and Knowledge

* Able to demonstrate a commitment to the trust values (Care, Respect, Communication)
* Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both orally and in writing, including use of financial and activity data, report writing, presenting, negotiating and the use of IT.
* Excellent presentation skills in communicating with and engaging a wide variety of stakeholders, including service users and carers, multi‑professional staff groups, partner agencies and senior management
* Effective role‑modelling, Collaborative and multi‑agency working.
* Act as a decision maker and advocate
* Good organisational skills
* Ability to collect and analyse qualitative and quantitative data for service evaluation and development
* Application of sources of research and research methods to evaluate and enhance practice
* Ability to provide supervision, critical companionship and support to team members; evidence of continued professional development; knowledge of relevant policies/national strategy
