About Us
We are based in Hertford and have 2 Vets, 1 RVN, 2 VCA’s and a full-time receptionist. The clinic is built on purpose-built premises with separate wards for cats and dogs and an isolation unit. We have ultrasound, digital X-ray, in-house laboratory with microscope, capnography with pulse oximetry, and a theatre dedicated to sterile procedures. We serve a high proportion of insured pets and offer 30-minute appointments for non-routine cases and 15-minute appointments for vaccines to provide the best service. Specialists visit the practice for a range of procedures; nurses can assist in all areas, from theatre to nurse clinics and beyond.
About You / Role
You will help run the practice to ensure high-standard care for patients and clients. Nurses are core to our practice, performing an integral clinical role. You will need strong communication and organisational skills, and an interest in the practice as a business, including how to motivate a team to achieve goals. As Head Nurse, you’ll direct day-to-day clinical operations, support the team, and act as a role model in developing skills while managing workflow.
You will develop the potential of RVNs in their surgical and medical interests, assist in training the nurse and VCA team, participate in appraisals and clinical care audits, and inspire the team. You will be fully supported by our Practice Owner, an experienced vet with a Master in Clinical Oncology.
As Head Nurse you’ll oversee the clinical team, help where needed, and contribute to the growth of the team. You’ll be involved in training and mentoring, and ensure high standards of patient and client care.
About The Role
We understand the importance of work-life balance. We offer either full or part-time hours with no out-of-hours shifts and only 1 in 3 Saturdays may incur extra pay or time off in lieu. Two daily shifts include a 30-minute unpaid lunch break:
* 8:45am – 5:15pm
* 10:45am – 7:15pm
The 1 in 3 Saturdays shift is 9:00am – 1:00pm.
