Depot Manager
Our client, a family run fuel and lubricant distribution business supplying both commercial and domestic customers is current hiring for a full time Depot Manager to manage and ensure the smooth and efficient running of the Depot and warehouse.
Your working week will be 7:30am to 5:30pm Monday to Friday, and 8:00am to 12:00pm Saturdays on a rota basis. Additional hours may be required in busy periods. You must be flexible and willing to work hours as required for the proper completion of your duties.
You will also act as a nominated Transport Manager of the O licence with responsibility for the vehicles.
Role Overview:
1. Ensure that property, plant, equipment, and facilities at the depot are maintained correctly, are in good working order, and are kept in a clean and tidy condition
2. Resolving driver related and vehicle issues including road traffic incidents, breakdowns and delivery issues
3. Ensure adequate stock levels of fuel, lubricants and other products are kept at all times
4. Assist in unloading incoming deliveries and organising stock for the warehouse
5. Provide customers with fuel prices via phone and email
6. Communicate and collaborate with other depots regarding resources, deadlines, and scheduling whilst meeting customer demands
7. Ensure weekly Health and Safety and security checks are completed
8. Carry out investigations relation to accidents, incidents or near misses
Transport Management/Compliance responsibilities:
9. Oversee all vehicles, drivers, and equipment under your control
10. Report vehicle defects, organise vehicle repairs and scheduled maintenance as per the guidance set out by the Operations Director or the Compliance team
11. Ensure driver’s hours are monitored and utilised
12. Oversee delivery routing and ensure cover for any holidays
Line Management responsibilities:
13. Recruit, induct, and train new team members
14. Ensure that probationary periods are managed effectively, performance is on track, and any concerns are addressed within that period
15. Ensure your direct reports complete daily tasks and fulfil their individual responsibilities
16. Carry out return to work interviews following absence or sickness for your direct reports
17. Ensure that all team members comply with Company policy including Health and Safety, HR, Compliance and IT policies
About you:
18. Relevant operators CPC qualification
19. Proven experience with a previous management role
20. Excellent communication skills
21. Ability to delegate tasks and ensure completion in an accurate and timely manner
22. Excellent problem solving skills
23. Must be IT literate and be prepared to lead upcoming change projects and the adoption of new technologies
24. Able to work under pressure
25. A thorough geographical knowledge of the depot delivery area, and an understanding of the wide Company trading area
26. A good understanding of transport and logistics
27. Good numerical ability
