Job Description
A leading Contractor is seeking to recruit a Civil Engineering Planner working on multiple projects across the UK and Ireland. The Civil Engineering Planner will provide planning management and support to the Pre-Contract Team. Reporting directly to the Pre-contracts Director, you will produce tender programmes compliant with ITT, Tender Sum, Design (where appropriate), and develop assurances and methodologies agreed with suppliers, subcontractors, and the bid team.
Ideally suited to a competent Civil Engineer or Project Manager with an interest in the pre-construction tender stages of the bid process.
Responsibilities:
1. Manage the Primavera P6 programme for each tender and its storage in the company's Enterprise Database.
2. Provide detailed support and assistance to the bid team to evaluate key points on the critical path, test and change logic to improve the tender programme or highlight concerns.
3. Produce programmes, reports, and extract filters as required by the bid team, including deviations from the baseline programme in P6 format.
4. Attend progress meetings with internal and external clients and deliver presentations on the tender programme as required.
5. Manage designers' and suppliers' programmes to ensure their sequence of works is fully integrated into the tender programme.
6. Provide technical input and advice as necessary.
7. Introduce improvements and innovations where appropriate.
Requirements for the role:
* Understanding of the construction process and engineering principles to ensure works are planned with regard for buildability.
* Some experience in planning civil engineering projects at both tender and delivery stages.
* Knowledge of Primavera P6 software is desirable but not essential.
* General awareness of commercial issues relating to construction contracts.
* Ability to recognize and record change events during the tender process.
* Strong problem-solving skills and clear communication abilities.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong organizational skills.
* A degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline is preferred; HND/HNC or equivalent may be considered.
* Chartered or Incorporated member of a professional body or working towards it.
