Technical Estimator - Wolverhampton People Solutions are currently recruiting for a Technical Estimator to join our well-established client based in Wolverhampton, West Midlands, on a full-time permanent basis. This position is ideal for applicants looking for a role as a Cost Estimator, Project Estimator or Bid/Proposal Engineer Shifts: 08:00–16:30 Monday to Thursday 08:00–15:30 Friday (39 hours per week) Salary: £38,000 - £45,000 Benefits include: • 26 days holiday per annum (increasing after 3, 5 & 10 years service) • Monday to Friday working pattern • Long-term permanent opportunity • Opportunity for career development within technical sales and estimating Day-to-day duties: As a Technical Estimator, your duties will include (but not be limited to): • Interpreting customer drawings and requirements at enquiry or order stage • Estimating customer jobs, including Bills of Materials (BOM) and selecting the most suitable manufacturing route • Converting imperial and metric measurements as part of costing and estimation work • Calculating full job costs including materials, machining, labour, and subcontracting • Supporting contract review processes and technical order checks when required • Sending enquiries to overseas suppliers to support B2B purchasing activity • Assisting Sales Teams with technical and commercial support • Identifying opportunities to bring in new customers or transition existing accounts • Supporting continuous improvement in operational and costing processes • General administrative duties and housekeeping within the department • Working additional hours when required to meet deadlines or workload demands Essential skills: To be successful as a Technical Estimator, you will need: • Good basic engineering knowledge • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings • Strong numerical and analytical skills • Excellent attention to detail • Understanding of manufacturing processes and cost breakdowns • Ability to work accurately under pressure • Strong communication skills and ability to support sales teams • Ability to manage workload effectively and prioritise tasks Desirable experience: • Previous experience in estimating, technical sales, or engineering support • Experience within fasteners, machining, or manufacturing environments • Knowledge of sourcing components from alternative suppliers • Experience working with BOM creation and costing systems Training: Full training and ongoing support will be provided, particularly around supplier sourcing, costing structure, and internal systems.
