Glebe Surgery - Prescription Enquiry Administrator

Main duties of the job
The purpose of this job role is to:
· Work alongside the Prescribing Support Lead and Prescription Team, offering support in surgery with day to day medication queries and prescribing
· Effectively deal with queries and tasks in a confident and supportive manner, with the intention of taking workload from clinicians where possible in a safe, responsive and effective way.
· Support patients with medication advice on the phone and sometimes face to face.
· Effectively communicate with patients, members of the primary care team (both internally and externally), Secondary Care, PCN Pharmacy teams; and community teams such as local pharmacies in a professional and courteous way.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities to be undertaken may include any or all of the items in the following list. Duties may be varied from time to time under the direction of the Prescribing Lead, Prescribing Support and/or Practice Manager, dependent on current and evolving Practice workload and staffing levels:
· Answer incoming medication phone calls and emails.
· Support front reception patients with medication queries and requests
· Be confident in answering all medication queries and streamlining to other relevant members of the team where relevant.
· Issuing prescriptions/Dossett prescriptions to pharmacies
· Adding medication to patient records and ensuring processes are followed to allow relevant checks to be made by clinicians
· Process hospital letters with medication requests/amendments
· Liaising with local pharmacies, community nurse teams, local hospitals, local care homes and PCN Pharmacy team
· Dealing with drug alerts
· Issuing personally administered prescriptions for the Nurse team appointments
· Processing community nurse dressing requests
· Support other members of the Prescription Team
Experience Essential
* Experience within a pharmacy, dispensary (or similar)
* Experience of dealing with a wide range of people in different situations
Desirable
* Experience within Primary Care
* Experience of using TTP SystemOne clinical system

* Excellent customer service skills
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Excellent computer literacy skills
* Excellent accuracy and attention to detail

* Basic knowledge of medical terminology
Qualifications
Essential
* Good standard of education (numerate and good standard of English).
* NVQ Level 2 Pharmacy Dispenser (NPA, Buttercups or similar)
