Role Overview
We are offering an advanced clinical optometrist role to join our multidisciplinary team providing high‑quality ophthalmic care for patients in Suffolk and surrounding areas.
Responsibilities
* Act as an autonomous advanced clinical practitioner, providing individualized clinical management for patients using advanced assessment and diagnostic reasoning skills to determine and initiate changes to treatment as necessary.
* Provide a range of extended specialist role services, including the use of YAG laser and SLT treatments.
* Serve as a specialist clinical expert in direct contact care, making high‑level decisions informed by advanced history taking, diagnostic, assessment and treatment skills; be responsible and accountable for own decisions, actions and omissions at this level of practice.
* Appropriately assess, examine, investigate, diagnose and treat patients, autonomously formulating appropriate management plans.
* Demonstrate a critical understanding of level of responsibility and autonomy, managing complexity, risk, uncertainty and incomplete information within professional scope of practice.
Qualifications & Experience
• Independent prescriber on the General Optical Council Speciality register.
• Significant previous experience delivering sub‑speciality ophthalmology care.
• For candidates with less experience, a developmental position is available starting at Band 6 or 7, with progression dependent on clinical competency and postgraduate qualifications.
