Maintenance Assistant
Role Overview:
The Maintenance Assistant supports the smooth operation of the site by performing a wide range of hands-on tasks, including industrial cleaning, assisting technicians, basic maintenance activities, and ensuring plant and site cleanliness. Reporting directly to the Maintenance Controller and working standard hours Monday to Friday (7:45 – 16:15, one shift, with occasional overtime), this role is key in supporting maintenance and operational teams to keep equipment, facilities, and processes running safely and efficiently. The role is based at our Performance Products plant in Llanelli, South Wales.

Role Responsibilities:
As a Maintenance Assistantyou will be responsible for:
1. Housekeeping: Ensuring plant cleanliness, including industrial cleaning tasks within vessels, ducts, and other equipment (with training provided).
2. Maintenance assistance: Supporting mechanical and electrical technicians during maintenance, repair, and installation work.
3. DIY & general support tasks: Painting, erecting shelves, assembling furniture, basic building repairs, and other general facility upkeep tasks.
4. Specialist activities (after training): Lagging, mobile scaffold tower erection, lubrication of plant, rigging, catalyst sieving, installing signage, equipment inspection, and minor civil works.
5. Logistics support: All site activities requiring the use of a forklift truck (FLT), including driver planned maintenance.
6. Loading & unloading:Assist with filling, packaging, and preparing both bulk and packed finished products for shipment; unloading raw materials after suitable training.
7. Safety & improvement: Actively participating in safety initiatives (VPP), improvement programs, and annual appraisal processes.
Experience and Competencies:
We are looking for experienced candidates with excellent communication skills and a solution focused approach

8. A broad range of practical, hands-on skills (DIY proficiency is essential – candidates should not require basic training in this area).
9. Forklift Truck license (advantageous). If not held, 3-day FLT training will be provided.
10. Ability and willingness to complete industrial cleaning training and perform related activities.
11. Strong awareness of personal safety and safe working practices.
12. Flexibility to work overtime when required.
13. Willingness to learn and support across different maintenance activities.
14. Reliability, responsibility, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
15. Basic problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to maintaining a safe and efficient workplace.
