Offer description

Write a short description of your company, a boilerplate of the business, service or product that you offer. Include your business idea and the target audience. This text is primarily supposed to be descriptive, not selling.

The Opportunity

Norwich is a "City of Stories" and a vibrant economic hub, home to a thriving financial services sector, world-class research at the Norwich Research Park, and a legendary independent retail scene. We are seeking an intellectually ambitious Economics Teacher to join an Ofsted-rated 'Outstanding' secondary academy. In this role, you will inspire students to master the complexities of global markets and fiscal policy—from the local impact of inflation to the global shift toward sustainable trade—utilizing the city’s unique economic landscape to foster a lifelong passion for strategic thinking and social mobility.

-----------------------------------

The Department & Professional Culture

* You will join a high-performing Economics and Business faculty where the subject is a popular and high-attaining choice for A-Level and GCSE students.

* The department fosters a "professional-discourse" atmosphere, encouraging students to engage in high-level critique of macroeconomic trends, monetary policy, and market failures.

* As an "Outstanding" setting, we prioritise a curriculum that balances theoretical rigour with real-world application, focusing on developmental economics, international trade, and financial markets.

* We maintain active links with local Norfolk enterprises and the University of East Anglia, providing students with opportunities for guest lectures, economic forums, and insight into the regional and national economy.

-----------------------------------

Core Responsibilities

1. Exemplary Instruction: Delivering high-challenge Economics lessons primarily at Key Stage 5 (A-Level), with opportunities to contribute to Business or Citizenship curricula at Key Stage 4.

2. Critical Analysis: Guiding students through the rigorous interrogation of economic models—from supply and demand curves to Keynesian versus Classical theories—ensuring they develop the sophisticated evaluative skills required for top-tier exam performance.

3. Global Awareness: Systematically teaching the mechanics of exchange rates, national debt, and globalization, ensuring students can communicate complex economic arguments with clarity and authority.

4. Data-Driven Progress: Utilising the academy’s robust assessment framework to provide granular feedback, ensuring students are equipped to meet the high-level demands of AQA, Edexcel, or OCR specifications.

5. Intellectual Leadership: Coordinating extra-curricular initiatives, such as the "Bank of England Target 2.0" challenge or student-led economic journals, to promote a vibrant culture of inquiry across the academy.

-----------------------------------

The Successful Candidate We are looking for a subject authority who believes that economic literacy is the key to understanding the modern world and empowering the next generation of leaders. Requirements include:

* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a strong honours degree in Economics or a related discipline (e.g., Philosophy, Politics, and Economics).

* Proven Track Record: Evidence of delivering exceptional learning outcomes at A-Level, with a deep understanding of current assessment objectives and the ability to stretch high-attaining students.

* Communication & Flair: The ability to model professional academic talk and inspire students through a deep-seated interest in current affairs, political economy, and global data trends.

* Reflective Practice: A professional committed to continuous growth, eager to participate in collaborative planning and the development of world-class resources.

-----------------------------------

Why Join Us?

* The chance to work in an "Outstanding" environment where student behaviour is exemplary and Economics is held in high academic regard.

* Unrivalled professional development pathways, including opportunities for middle leadership and specialised training in advanced pedagogical techniques.

* The opportunity to work in Norwich—a city offering a unique blend of medieval charm and modern innovation, with a high quality of life and a vibrant independent business community.

* A prestigious professional community that values innovation, intellectual rigour, and the holistic development of every student.
