Our people are at the heart of our purpose to advance aviation and keep the skies safe Job Purpose As an ATS Support at Heathrow Airport, you will provide a timely Engineering response to the rectification of faults and failures and to the completion of planned maintenance while providing engineering support to the Airport Operational Engineers The specialist domain for this role will be Networks, this role is critical to supporting the complex and high-availability infrastructure that underpins both operational and safety-critical systems. As a network specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring the integrity, security, and performance of networks in support of ATC services You will be responsible for maintaining and configuring networking equipment, including switches, routers, firewalls from a range of manufacturers e.g. Cisco, OTN, Nokia, HP, Netgear, Fortinet, Palo Alto. This includes deploying, managing, and troubleshooting networks and networking devices Duties Include Maintain current knowledge of field specialism to provide expert support into the Heathrow operation. Support the Unit in the completion of planned and corrective maintenance tasks on a wide range of airport systems Make operational decisions, provide guidance, specialist advice and assistance including an assessment of operational impact and to appraise relevant management and/or customers of any service impacting incidents or occurrences Maintain clear and accurate records for all activities Supervise Airport Maintenance Engineers and contractors Act in accordance with the defined safety responsibilities of an Airport Operational Engineer Ensure team members have the necessary knowledge and skills Conducting post incident procedures to aid the provision of Incident Reports in the event of a safety related event Drive company vehicles both on public roads and on the airfield Qualifications/Skills Professional engineering qualification to Higher National Certificate (NVQ Level 4) as a minimum in Engineering, Electronics, Telecommunications or Computer Science and relevant operational experience. N.B. The job holder may, in leiu of the above qualifications, have undertaken structured Engineering training (e.g. CAA Bletchley or apprenticeship recognised by a professional body) and have extensive engineering experience Knowledge and experience within their specialism and general knowledge of the systems at airports and remote sites together with an understanding of the impact that these systems may have on operations Prioritise actions under pressure, be technically competent to work on a wide range of equipment. Work as part of a team or on own initiative and possess effective judgement skills to maintain operational services in a safety critical environment Full UK driving licence Possess commercial awareness to appreciate what impact a facility failure would have on our customer Required to be part of an On-call Rota of 1 in 4.
