Overview
Reporting to the Camp Manager and working with a team of ratio'd staff, Swimming Teachers are responsible for planning and delivering safe, structured, active sessions to children aged 5 to 17 during school holidays. Sessions focus on developing water-confidence and basic stroke development through structured, active games and fun activities, rather than a traditional learn-to-swim programme. Safety is the number one priority, and Swimming Teachers work closely with Lifeguards to prepare areas and equipment, manage risk assessments, monitor water conditions, and respond to incidents. Children and staff must adhere to Kings Camps' Swimming Policy, the venue Normal Operating Procedure and Emergency Action Plan.
Staff will work with groups of mixed ability children, with a maximum of 16 children in the pool. Sessions typically last between 30 and 45 minutes. Session times and pool availability will vary, but we typically run sessions from 9:30am to 3:30pm, Monday to Friday. Child safety is our top priority, so you will supervise children during breaks, participate in swimming sessions, oversee the safe use of equipment, promptly record incidents, implement behaviour management policies, and uphold health and safety standards and procedures.
