Job Overview
Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is looking for a registered Pharmacy Technician to deliver a patient‑centred ward pharmacy service. The role involves drug history taking, medicines reconciliation, supervision of junior staff, training, dispensing and close collaboration with healthcare professionals.
Key Responsibilities
* Compile accurate medication histories and undertake medicines reconciliation within 24 hours of admission.
* Supervise junior pharmacy technicians and pharmacy assistants; provide induction, training and competency logs.
* Train staff on pharmacy procedures, stock control and electronic prescribing systems.
* Provide advice on pharmaceutical products and supply, acting as a professional role model.
* Work closely with other healthcare professionals at ward level and contribute to pharmacy service including dispensing and accredited checking of prescriptions.
Qualifications
* Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Pharmacy Service Skills or Level 3 Diploma in Pharmaceutical Science (or equivalent).
* Accredited Checking Pharmacy Technician.
Desirable
* Clinical pharmacy qualification or accreditation.
* Member of APTUK.
Experience
* Customer‑orientated services and experience of supervising staff.
* Experience of contributing to SOP development and ward/clinic based experience.
Skills
* Analytical problem‑solving and solution development.
* Independent work and team collaboration.
* Workload prioritisation and time management.
Communication
* Good verbal and written communication skills and patient medication counselling experience.
