Location: County Hall, Oxford OX1 1ND
Contract: 6–12 months
Rate: £350/day
Working Pattern: Full-time or part-time (flexible working considered)
Office Attendance: One day per week (Wednesdays)
We are seeking a skilled Strategic Planner to lead on land-use planning across major development sites and planning policy documents. This is a technical leadership role focused on shaping sustainable growth in line with the Council’s priorities.
You’ll provide expert advice to district councils, developers, and internal teams, supervise planners, and represent the Council in strategic planning forums. Strong communication skills—both written and verbal—are essential, along with the ability to translate complex planning issues into clear, accessible language.
Requirements
* RTPI-accredited postgraduate degree or equivalent experience
* RTPI membership or eligibility
* Extensive experience in strategic planning and policy
* Excellent report writing and presentation skills
* Strong negotiation and decision-making abilities
