We are seeking a Payroll Officer to join a public sector organisation in Newcastle. This temporary role requires expertise in payroll processing and a strong understanding of accounting and finance practices.

Description
* Accurately process payroll for employees, ensuring compliance with regulations.
* Maintain payroll records and ensure data integrity.
* Handle payroll queries and provide timely resolutions.
* Prepare and submit statutory returns, including PAYE and NI contributions.
* Collaborate with the Accounting & Finance team to ensure financial accuracy.
* Assist with audits and provide necessary payroll documentation.
* Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and internal policies.
* Support ad-hoc payroll-related tasks as required.
Profile
* Experience in payroll processing within a professional environment.
* Strong knowledge of payroll systems and relevant legislation.
* Experience with iTrent would be desirable.
* A background in Accounting & Finance or a related field.
* Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
* Proficiency in using payroll software and Microsoft Office Suite.
* Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
Job Offer
* 33 hours per week

* Hybrid working (2 days in the office and 3 from home)
* £28,351 (take home pay) £31,788 (FTE)
