Part of the Home Office Analysis & Insight directorate, the Performance Reporting & Analysis Unit (PRAU) provides reporting and analysis of performance for the Migration & Borders Mission and associated operational Capabilities. We support Ministers, the Executive Committee, Policy and Operational leads and other analytical functions with the management information (MI) that they need, as well as producing data for publication and other forms of external release. The Unit also provides advice and support to others in the Department on how to make best use of performance information and is leading on the transformation of MI systems and capabilities.
PRAU is geographically spread across four primary locations (London, Liverpool, and Sheffield and Croydon). Candidates will need to agree a base location of either Croydon, Sheffield or Liverpool with a requirement for periodic attendance at other Home Office locations.
This post provides an opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment, which is inclusive by instinct, engaging with projects that work across the Department to understand and deliver reporting requirements both short and long term, and provides an opportunity to understand first-hand how the different parts of the Home Office, and external bodies use and interact with key performance information. In addition, PRAU along with other areas of the Home Office, are going through a significant and exciting transformation to provide an enhanced MI service to the Department. The transformation encompasses technology and process, meaning that the role will require a degree of flexibility to deliver innovative activities to support and endorse the transformation, in addition to the responsibilities outlined below.
Job description
As a Technology Delivery Manager you will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of MI Products within agreed timescales, to cost, process and quality standards. You will form a partnership with a Product Manager in order to deliver value against the product vision. You will also work with a variety of stakeholders, translating technical concepts where necessary.�
You will be expected to work with flexibility, selecting and applying appropriate delivery techniques as required, based on your delivery experience. You will be responsible for overseeing a multi-disciplinary team, ensuring the delivery of their outputs, defining and embedding best practice, and implementing governance mechanisms.
You may be required to facilitate governance meetings and mechanisms and/or select the right people to join these discussions. As part of the Home Office Digital Data and Technology (DDaT) community, you will contribute to communities of practice to absorb and share knowledge and help to set good practice and standards.�
Once in role, we will assist you in working towards applying for Recruitment and Retention (RRA) allowance, with the view to becoming a member of the Home Office Delivery profession.
These roles are open on a full-time and part-time basis, with a minimum of 4 days per week ( fte) due to business needs.
Where business needs allow, some roles may be suitable for a combination of office and home-based working. Responsibilities
Your main day-to-day responsibilities will be: �
1. Translating product roadmaps and features into an achievable delivery plan, considering the people and skills required and predicting milestones based on forecasts where possible
2. Delivering in line with your team�s capacity and availability, as well as ensuring they have the correct skills, at the right level, to consistently deliver
3. Actively managing risks, issues, and dependencies for your delivery team, acting on delivery data and adapting ways of working to mitigate risks
4. Partnering with the MI Product Managers to develop communication approaches so you can effectively engage with and influence relevant stakeholders
5. Monitoring trends in team performance and effectiveness, and engaging and motivating the team as required
6. Using feedback loops, data analysis, and small experiments to iteratively improve the product, service, and ways of working within a multidisciplinary team comprised of both civil servants and suppliers
7. Supporting with the oversight of new MI products, from triaging demand of new requests through to assessing reporting best practice and deployment to live service
8. Ensuring the delivery of products in line with accessibility legislative standards and product design best practices�

10. Taking the lead on the day-to-day ways of working in order to bring out the best in the team, facilitating appropriate team ceremonies where necessary and coaching/mentoring others
11. Overseeing the delivery of Report Development practice, building capability in methods, tools (including Microsoft Power BI) and standards by managing communities-of-interest activities �
12. Supporting the Customer Facing Team Leads with reporting on the quality of products in the portfolio and reviewing product requests to be accepted into the pipeline

Essential criteria
You�ll have a demonstrable passion for Product development, with the following skills or experience in:�
13. Creating and maintaining a plan that highlights forecasts/estimates and confidence levels
14. Working in the delivery of technology or digital based projects
15. Using experience to help translate technical concepts to non-technical audiences
16. Promoting and building relationships with a broad range of stakeholders

18. Using metrics and previous experience to identify, understand and improve delivery performance challenges
19. Adapting approaches to different phases of the delivery lifecycle
Desirable criteria
Ideally you will also have the following skills or some experience in:

Recruitment and Retention Allowance (RRA)
This post is eligible for an RRA between �3,000 and �8,300. This allowance can be applied for once in post for those with exceptional skills and experience and we will assist you in working towards applying for RRA. Please note that the amount of RRA could be reduced or withdrawn at any time.
