About The Role
The Social Care Payments Team makes payments to providers and carers on behalf of our Children’s and Adults Social Care Teams. These include payments for services commissioned by the Council and Direct Payments. Each area has a Senior Finance Officer overseeing payments.
This position is within our Direct Payment Team. As direct payments allow residents to choose and arrange their own care, they promote greater choice, control, and independence. To manage increased workload and support a pre-paid card solution, we seek a part-time Senior Direct Payment Officer to job share with the current post holder. Responsibilities include final approval of payments, auditing, monitoring and reporting Council spend, and line management of two Direct Payment Officers.
About You
Ideally, you have experience working within a Council, NHS, or education setting, preferably in Social Care with knowledge of Direct Payment policies. You should have strong analysis and numeracy skills, experience with financial auditing, reconciliations, and spend monitoring, and be able to interpret complex information clearly. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential, along with good organizational skills to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines. Experience in line management and supporting staff through challenging situations is desirable. Project involvement or leadership experience is beneficial.
This is a job share role, part-time across 14.5 hours, working with the current post holder on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Flexibility in how hours are worked is welcome, but some coverage on Mondays and Fridays is required. The role involves a mix of home and Civic Centre work in Keynsham.
