(Right-click and select "Open in new tab" so you can keep the job description open while completing your application) The Service Support Officer provides specialist business support to the Highways Service with a strong focus on financial administration. The prinipal focus of this position being on supporting the end-to-end Purchase to Pay process, alongside activities in income support and debt, licences, insurance claims, budget monitoring and forecasting, reconciliations, policies, processes, and systems. You will work with the Senior Service Support Officer and support the Business Support team in the promotion of effective and efficient service delivery and support and improve the overall performance of all the administrative, financial, performance and systems activities within the Service, supporting change and addressing any resistance encountered. You will ensure that customer service excellence is at the forefront of all your delivery activities with a drive to maintain positive working relationships with stakeholders, suppliers, and customers. About you Qualifications / Knowledge - Level 4 qualification (or equivalent), or demonstrable equivalent level of knowledge and experience, particularly within a finance or business support environment. - Minimum of 2 years post educational relevant work experience - Good working knowledge of Excel and other Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint, with confidence handling financial data. Financial Responsibilities & Competencies - Demonstratable experience supporting the end‑to‑end Purchase‑to‑Pay process, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely processing of transactions. - Excellent attention to detail and accuracy, particularly when processing financial data and maintaining records. - Strong problem‑solving skills, with the ability to analyse issues and provide practical solutions across a range of enquiries and complaints. Customer Service & Stakeholder Engagement - Ability to respond effectively to enquiries and complaints from internal colleagues, contractors, clients, residents and other stakeholders, demonstrating professionalism and empathy.
