Senior Social Worker (Sessional) 2 posts
NLC13 £54, - £59, (pro rata) plus appropriate payment for non-core hour working
This post is open to North Lanarkshire Council employees only.
As one of Scotland’s largest local authorities we are focussed on delivering quality Social Work services that put the people in our communities first.
We currently have opportunities for sessional senior social workers in the Social Work Emergency Service (SWES). The service provides timely and creative support to individuals in urgent need of social work support or where there is a need of protection for adults and children. We work closely with both internal and external partners, working closely with colleagues in Home Support, Community Alarms and Children and Families staff who work out of hours. We know that delivering quality services starts with having the right people working in the service, with the right skills, abilities and attributes to fulfil our commitment of delivering high quality services.
SWES is a part of North Lanarkshire Council’s Education and Families Directorate. You will join our team implementing the Council’s ambitious programme of work: resilient people, supporting the transformation of our services and improving outcomes for all in our communities.
You will provide quality management and leadership in the team to ensure the service is responsive and promote a high standard of social work practice. You will require strong leadership skills to lead and motivate employees to ensure a culture of effective service delivery and that quality outcomes are delivered.
The service delivers an out of hours response to calls from a range of stakeholders, including the police, health and the public. As the ‘duty manager’ for SWES you would support a range of out of hour’s social work services and contingency planning with internal partners, including the Community Alarm Service and Home Support.
Significant post qualifying experience is essential, including experience in a relevant discipline. A track record of successful inter agency working, leadership skills together with knowledge of risk assessment and risk management frameworks are essential as are excellent verbal and written skills.
To apply you must hold a CQSW/DipSW, BA (Hons) in Social Work or equivalent, along with significant post qualifying experience in Social Work and management. You will be registered with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC).
You will require to become a Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme member prior to commencing in this role.
In return we can offer you a positive professional working experience with a commitment to continuous professional development.
