English Teacher - Southampton
Start Date: September 2025
Contract: Long-Term until December 2025 (with potential to become permanent)
Pay: £160 - £240 per day (dependent on experience)
Hours: 8:00am - 4:00pm | Full-Time

Supply Desk is working in partnership with a well-regarded secondary school in Southampton to recruit a dedicated and enthusiastic English Teacher for a long-term role starting in September 2025. The position is set to run through December 2025, with a strong possibility of becoming permanent for the right candidate.
The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching English Language and Literature across Key Stages 3 and 4, supported by a collaborative and forward-thinking English department. This role is suitable for both Early Career Teachers (ECTs) and experienced educators. The school is also open to considering unqualified teachers or non-specialists with relevant secondary English teaching experience.
* Plan and deliver engaging and inclusive English lessons
* Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback
* Support curriculum development and departmental initiatives
* Maintain a positive and well-managed classroom environment
* Participate in school activities and extracurricular programs
* A mixed 11-16 secondary school based in Southampton
* Rated 'Good' by Ofsted, with a strong focus on academic achievement and student wellbeing
* Accessible via public transport and supported by a forward-thinking Senior Leadership Team
* A degree in English, English Literature, or a related subject (essential)
* QTS or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification (preferred)
* Experience teaching English at KS3 and KS4
* Excellent classroom management and communication skills
