We’re currently recruiting temporary Residential Support Workers to join a dedicated team supporting children and young people in a warm, safe, and stable home environment. You’ll be working directly with residential care providers that are committed to nurturing each young person’s wellbeing, independence, and future.
As part of the Lupa team, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring that every shift counts offering consistency, care, and a positive presence where it’s needed most.
Role Summary
As a Residential Support Worker, you will be part of a dedicated team delivering high‐quality care and support to children and young people in our residential homes. Even if you do not hold formal care qualifications, you will be fully supported with training and mentoring to succeed in your role as a Residential Support Worker.
The Residential Support Worker is responsible for:
Maintaining a safe, inclusive, and supportive home environment at all times.
Supporting daily living tasks such as mealtimes, personal hygiene, cleaning, laundry, shopping, and meal preparation.
Building positive, trusting relationships with children and young people; being a consistent, reliable presence.
Encouraging independence, self‐esteem, social skills, and emotional development.
Following care and individual support plans, helping implement goals set by the team.
Observing, recording, and reporting on behaviour, wellbeing, health concerns, or changes in mood/behaviour.
Supporting education, activities, family contact, visits, and appointments as needed.
Working shifts, including nights, weekends, sleep‐ins, and bank holidays—flexibility is essential.
Promoting safeguarding, and adhering to all relevant policies, procedures, and best practices.
Collaborating with the team: communicating with colleagues, attending meetings, and contributing to handovers. The Residential Support Worker role is hands-on and rewarding. You will play a key part in creating a safe, nurturing environment. Flexibility: able to work varied hours, shift patterns, occasional short notice cover.
Ability to work as part of a team: collaboration, supporting colleagues, following guidance and supervision.
Integrity and confidentiality: understanding the importance of respecting privacy and safeguarding.
Positive attitude, enthusiasm, and motivation to make a difference. Desirable (but not required):
Experience working with children, young people, or in residential care or similar settings.
Basic understanding of safeguarding, child protection.
First Aid, Food Hygiene certificates or willingness to undertake training.
Understanding of developmental / emotional needs of children who have experienced trauma.
Full UK driving licence (if required for specific duties). What You’ll Get

Working Conditions & Schedule
The home operates 24 hours a day, so shifts cover mornings, afternoons, evenings, nights, weekends, bank holidays, and may include sleep‐in duties.
Shift patterns may vary; you may work on a rota basis.
Flexibility is required. Occasional cover, short notice changes.
Residential environment: you must be prepared for demanding situations, emotionally and physically.
