Job Summary
We are seeking a strong, passionate and skilled Chef to join our team and assist our Head Chef in a lovely pub in Newport. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food production and a commitment to maintaining high standards of food safety and quality. As part of the team, you will play a vital role in creating exceptional dining experiences while helping to lead other kitchen staff.
Responsibilities
* Oversee the daily operations of the kitchen, ensuring smooth workflow and adherence to food safety regulations.
* Prepare and cook high-quality dishes in accordance with the restaurant's menu and standards.
* Supervise kitchen staff, providing guidance and support to ensure efficient food production.
* Collaborate with management to develop new menu items and seasonal offerings that reflect current culinary trends.
* Maintain inventory levels, ordering supplies as needed while minimising waste.
* Ensure cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen, adhering to health and safety standards at all times.
* Train new kitchen staff on cooking techniques, food safety practices, and operational procedures.
* Foster a positive team environment that encourages collaboration, creativity, and professional growth.
Experience
* Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in kitchen management.
* Demonstrated leadership skills with experience in supervising and managing teams effectively.
* Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
* Excellent communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire team members.
* A passion for cooking and creating memorable dining experiences for guests.
Hours: 30-45 hours per week
