Permanent Behaviour Mentor - Level 2

Keyham Lodge School

Salary: Grade 9 Pay Point 19-22, approximate starting salary of £30.951

Hours: 42 hours per week ( Standard Support Contract working hours is 37 hours per week) and 40 weeks per year. ( Term Time Plus)

Contract Type: Permanent

Working Pattern: Monday -Thursday 07:30 - 16:30 and 08:30-16:00 on Friday.

About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an individual to join our behaviour and relationship team as a behaviour mentor. Your role will involve leading pastoral interventions in order to support our children’s social, emotional and mental health needs, emotional literacy and social interaction. You will also be led by our phase leads to ensure behaviour is well supported within the classroom and vital links between home and the school are maintained. As one of our mentors, you will develop your own timetable to work flexibly in supporting the well-being of our young people and encourage them to be reflective and responsible.

Key Responsibilities

1. Devise and implement behaviour and social skills interventions with individuals or small groups.
2. Plan and organise programmes of provision to be delivered by support staff specifically for pupils experiencing behavioural difficulties.
3. Under the direction of SLT, they will communicate with parents and outside agencies as part of intervention delivery and school behaviour improvement strategies.
4. Maintain records and collect data relating to behaviour as directed.
5. To provide a physical presence around the school during the school day.

What We’re Looking For

Qualifications:

6. NVQ Level 3 Equivalent with relevant Child and / or Education focus
7. Good Literacy and Numeracy GCSE Maths and English or equivalent
8. Evidence of further accreditations/ qualifications in the area of BESD, Social Skills, SEND.

Experience:

9. A minimum of 2 years working experience as a level 3 Teaching Assistant in an educational setting.
10. Effective working with Primary aged children/young people and their families.
11. Experience of supporting children with identified additional needs, including emotional, social and behavioural difficulties.

Skills & Knowledge:

12. Knowledge of child protection and health and safety procedures.
13. To have knowledge of the SEND Code of practice and the graduated approach.
14. Knowledge of databases and the ability to extract information and present reports.
