Advanced Apprentice Youth worker Working 36.5 hours per week Salary: JNC SCP 14 - 17 £32,040 - £34,431 Internal Job Opportunity: Advanced Apprentice Youth Worker Location: Various sites across Birmingham Division: Children and Families – Youth Service Fixed Term 3 years (linked to apprenticeship duration) Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people? We’re excited to offer an opportunity for internal staff to apply for the role of Apprentice Youth Worker within Birmingham City Council’s Youth Service. About the Role As an Apprentice Youth Worker, you will: Support the Senior Youth Worker in developing and delivering youth work projects and programmes. Work directly with young people in a variety of settings including centre-based, detached, outreach, and project-based work. Help ensure young people are actively involved in shaping the services they use. Contribute to the strategic development of youth services in line with council priorities. Dedicate 20% of your working week to completing the BA (Hons) Youth Work Degree Apprenticeship through Captiva Learn. Key Responsibilities Plan and deliver engaging activities and events for young people. Manage youth support workers and contribute to project planning and evaluation. Build effective partnerships with external agencies. Maintain accurate records and contribute to performance monitoring. Support the day-to-day management of youth service buildings. What We’re Looking For Experience working with young people, particularly in youth work settings. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to manage challenging behaviours and build positive relationships. Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays. Essential Requirements Commitment to completing the Youth Work Degree Apprenticeship. Enhanced DBS clearance. A passion for youth work and a desire to grow professionally. Interested?
