We are now recruiting for the position of Health, Safety & Environment Advisor. The HSE Advisor will support the effective implementation of Techrete's Health, Safety and Environmental policies across manufacturing and construction activities. The role is responsible for providing professional advice, ensuring legal compliance, promoting safe systems of work, and driving continuous improvement in health, safety and environmental performance. This is a hands-on operational role requiring strong site presence, engagement with management and workforce teams, and proactive risk management.
Key Responsibilities
Health & Safety Leadership
* Monitor implementation and effectiveness of the Company Health & Safety Policy.
* Advise management and HSE Committee members on all HSE matters.
* Promote a proactive safety culture aligned with Company values.
* Foster awareness of injury prevention, occupational health, and damage control.
Compliance & Legal Assurance
* Advise on legal requirements relating to health, safety and welfare.
* Ensure compliance with UK (HSE) legislation.
* Report notifiable accidents and dangerous occurrences to enforcing authorities.
* Maintain knowledge of current legislation, codes of practice, and industry standards.
* Assist with ISO 14001 and 45001 audits.
Risk Management & Safe Systems of Work
* Advise on hazard identification and risk assessments for new and existing activities.
* Review and approve safety content of written method statements.
* Provide guidance on safe systems of work and safe operational practices.
* Advise on suitability and compliance of plant, equipment, and PPE.
Inspections, Audits & Reporting
* Conduct regular site inspections and audits across manufacturing and construction activities.
* Produce written reports detailing findings, hazards, observations and recommendations.
* Monitor accident trends and produce statistical analysis reports.
* Track corrective actions and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Incident Management
* Lead accident and incident investigations.
* Maintain accurate accident databases and records.
* Identify root causes and recommend preventative measures.
Training & Development
* Identify HSE training needs across operational teams.
* Assist in implementing and evaluating training programmes.
* Deliver or coordinate specialist training where required.
Stakeholder Engagement
* Support Project and Site Managers in planning safe operations.
* Establish and maintain productive relationships with enforcing authorities and external bodies.
* Work collaboratively with production, operational and project teams.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential
* NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent recognised qualification)
* Proven experience in HSE within manufacturing and/or construction environments
* Strong knowledge of UK health and safety legislation
* Experience conducting audits, inspections and investigations
* Strong communication and influencing skills
* Ability to work independently and proactively across multiple sites
Desirable
* NEBOSH Construction Certificate
* ISO 45001 / 14001 auditing experience
* Experience working within heavy industry or precast concrete manufacturing
* Membership of IOSH (or working toward Chartered status)
