As we continue to modernise and transform our digital services, we have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Cloud Engineer with a track record of delivering high quality platforms into Azure.
As a Senior Cloud Engineer, you will be part of a supportive and skilled team responsible for delivering change to our public cloud (Microsoft Azure). The role requires skills and experience across the Microsoft Azure stack to enable the successful automation, monitoring and operations of our Azure estate.
Utilising your skills and experience and bringing knowledge from internal and external sources you will support the Cloud Engineers to implement new ways of working aligned with best practice to develop and run our digital services in the cloud.
You will help shape and evolve our internal engineering platform by designing opinionated, secure, and reusable “golden paths” that enable development teams to deliver software quickly, safely, and consistently. In this role, you will coach Cloud Engineers while also driving improvements to our developer experience, platform reliability, and operational excellence. Your work will ensure our cloud services are cost-efficient, scalable, well-governed, and aligned with modern engineering best practices‑.

You’ll be part of a Cloud Engineering team delivering value using SAFe and Agile methodologies. The team focuses on building new Azure based‑ platform capabilities, modernising existing systems and empowering product teams across the business with tooling, automation, and secure-by-default cloud patterns. You will enable teams to ship faster and more confidently by improving pipelines, reducing friction, and lifting engineering maturity across the organisation.

What Will You Be Doing?
Your main responsibilities will include:
• Play a role in shaping the future of our platform capabilities by reviewing and contributing to designs and reusable delivery patterns that meet operational requirements, security standards, service reliability targets, and the pace of business change, ensuring friction free‑ foundations for engineering teams.
• Coach and support Cloud Engineers and wider delivery teams, helping them adopt platform standards, self-service‑ tooling, automation, and modern engineering practices.
• Contribute to the Cloud Centre of Excellence, sharing best practices, developing reusable patterns, enhancing governance frameworks, and raising engineering maturity across the organisation.
• Optimise our Azure platform services, shared tooling, pipelines, and automation to ensure consistent functionality, cost efficiency‑, resilience, and a smooth developer experience.
• Investigate and resolve platform related issues, identifying‑ root causes and contributing to continuous improvement of shared services, observability, and runtime environments.
What Do We Need From You?
12. Hands-on experience designing, deploying and managing cloud environments in Azure
13. Comfortable working in Agile teams, with experience in Scrum, SAFe, or similar methodologies.
14. Automation first mindset, with the ability to drive best practice around pipelines and infrastructure and configuration as code. We currently utilise Azure DevOps, Bicep, Terraform, and Ansible but recognise that experience with similar technologies is transferable.
15. Desirable: Working knowledge of common programming languages such as Python, C#, or TypeScript.
16. Agile-minded, optimistic, passionate, and pragmatic about delivering value to customers with experience working with scrum,

18. A genuine curiosity for technology and continuous improvement.
