Your Role
We are on the lookout for a dedicated School Caretaker to join our team! In this vital role, you will be responsible for the maintenance, security, and cleanliness of our school premises. You will represent the school while working with contractors and suppliers to ensure our environment remains safe and welcoming.
Key Responsibilities
* Maintain clean, safe, and secure school premises, including buildings and grounds.
* Perform cleaning, handyperson activities, routine maintenance, and minor repairs.
* Supervise school cleaning staff to ensure high standards are met.
* Promote health and safety throughout the school.
* Handle porterage duties, such as moving furniture and equipment.
* Report any maintenance issues to the Head Teacher.
* Carry out small repairs and DIY projects as needed.
* Arrange larger repairs and obtain quotes from contractors.
* Conduct daily cleaning and ad-hoc duties, including litter picking.
* Manage emergency cleaning duties, such as gritting and spill clean-ups.
* Coordinate an annual deep clean of frequently used areas.
* Maintain cleaning tools and products, ensuring good stock levels.
* Secure the school premises as the main key holder, locking and unlocking as required.
* Conduct regular checks of security systems and report any issues.
* Advise the Head Teacher on matters related to school security and safety.
What We’re Looking For
* Level 2 Award in Support Work in Schools.
* Previous caretaking experience in a school environment.
* Experience in building maintenance and security systems.
* Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations.
* Basic DIY skills and good interpersonal abilities.
* Literacy and numeracy skills to effectively communicate and document tasks.
* Ability to work in an environment with SEMH children.
* Willingness to undergo an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check.
The successful candidate will be required to complete an enhanced DBS check, with costs covered by ISP School Battle.
