Contract: Initial 3-month temporary assignment with a strong view to permanent

This is a brilliant opportunity for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join a well-established, family-run construction business in North Bristol and help shape the role from the ground up.
The company delivers a broad mix of work across commercial, residential, refurbishment, fit-out and retrofit projects, operating both within and outside of established frameworks. They’re a tight-knit, hands-on team where your contribution will be visible from day one; no getting lost in layers of hierarchy here.
The initial three months will be on a temporary basis, giving both sides the chance to make sure the fit is right. The clear intention is for this to become a permanent position as the role evolves.
What you’ll be doing
* Pricing and tendering for projects across commercial, residential, refurbishment, fit-out and retrofit works
* Working on projects both within and outside of framework agreements
* Producing accurate cost estimates and managing project budgets from pre-construction through to final account
* Raising purchase orders and managing procurement processes
* Liaising directly with subcontractors via email and phone to obtain quotations, agree scope and ensure work is delivered on programme
* Preparing valuations, variations and interim payment applications
* Supporting the wider team with commercial reporting and cost control
* Identifying risks and opportunities to protect and improve project margins
What we’re looking for
* A proven track record in quantity surveying; you’ll need solid, hands-on experience across a range of project types
* Comfortable pricing work across multiple sectors including commercial, residential, refurbs, fit-outs and retrofits
* Experience working within frameworks as well as negotiated and competitively tendered contracts
* Confident communicating with subcontractors, suppliers and internal teams
* Highly organised with strong attention to detail, you’ll be managing multiple projects simultaneously
* Proactive and self-motivated, someone who thrives with autonomy rather than needing constant direction
* Proficient with industry-standard estimating and measurement software
