Job Description:
The Service Manager is responsible for coordinating staff and resources to achieve high standards of care, considering the physical, social, and psychological needs of service users. Ensuring their welfare and compliance with organizational standards, statutory, and contractual requirements. The role involves operating within a legislative framework and promoting the organization's values and care ethos.
The Area Service Manager will oversee and support managers across 5 supported living projects and community activities for adults and children at Lynton Community Care, reporting directly to the Registered Individual.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Referring, assessing, and developing personalized care and risk management plans in collaboration with previous care teams, families, and advocates.
2. Maintaining good communication and relationships with service users, relatives, and professionals involved in their care.
3. Ensuring compliance with relevant statutory requirements and best practices, including the Health and Social Care Act 2008, Health & Safety, COSHH, Mental Capacity Act 2005, and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards.
4. Managing the environment to comply with health, safety, and infection control legislation, conducting risk assessments, fire checks, and maintaining a safe environment.
5. Cooperating with CIW to understand and adhere to the Fundamental Standards, and carrying out statutory notifications as required.
6. Managing legal and statutory documentation, including insurance and enrollment documents.
7. Monitoring maintenance issues and ensuring appropriate actions are taken.
8. Supporting investigation and resolution of complaints, including reporting and implementing changes.
9. Recruiting, inducting, and training staff, supporting their development.
10. Promoting openness and honesty within the team, encouraging staff to have a voice and contribute to service improvements.
11. Holding regular staff meetings, supervising, and supporting staff development.
12. Building positive relationships and effective communication within the team.
13. Participating in disciplinary procedures, including suspensions and investigations, in consultation with HR.
14. Managing staff scheduling, absences, holidays, and sickness.
15. Overseeing medication management, including ordering, disposal, and auditing.
16. Managing budgets, petty cash, and activity budgets.
17. Safeguarding service users and responding to safeguarding issues.
18. Handling applications related to Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards and working with personal representatives to ensure legal compliance.
19. Providing out-of-hours support and attending incidents as necessary.
20. Participating in supervision and continuing professional development (CPD).
21. Contributing to strategic decisions and business growth.
22. Performing other duties as assigned by the Director, appropriate to skills and competence.
23. Managing financial aspects of the service.
24. Writing and auditing behavioral reports.
The Service Manager must possess skills and qualifications to support both adults and children with learning disabilities.
