PCN Practice Staff & Clinical Pharmacist – Roundwell Medical Practice.
Hours: 25 per week.
Salary Range: £15.77 per hour – £20,557.38 per annum.

Job Overview
An exciting opportunity to join Norfolk Primary Care as a Pharmacy Technician across a Primary Care Network in Norwich. Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC), you will work alongside Clinical Pharmacists as a key member of GP practice teams, contributing to prescribing of the highest quality, safety and value, supporting medicines optimisation and prescribing processes.
You will provide support to GPs, Pharmacists, other clinical staff and reception teams, coordinating discharge summaries and medication reviews, playing a central role in repeat prescribing processes, liaising with patients, carers, hospital and community pharmacies, responding to medication queries and updating medical records.
The role may require travel between GP practice sites within the PCN area.
Key Responsibilities
* Work as a key member within the GP practice teams, contributing to high‑quality prescribing and medicines optimisation.
* Support GPs, Pharmacists, Dispensers, other clinical staff and reception teams with discharge summaries, medication reviews and safe prescribing.
* Assist in developing a safe, cost‑effective, efficient repeat prescribing system through review, improvement and implementation of medicines management processes.
* Carry out clinical tasks including patient‑facing and patient‑supporting roles, shared decision‑making conversations, medicines optimisation tasks, medication reviews and reconciliation.
* Work with care homes and local community pharmacists to support medication reviews, medicines reconciliation and synchronisation of medicines for patient transfers.
* Provide specialist expertise for public health and social care needs, including lifestyle advice and service information.
* Support antimicrobial stewardship initiatives and organise monitoring tests prior to SMRs.
* Manage and liaise on shared care protocols with Clinical Pharmacists.
* Work with the multidisciplinary team to improve efficient medicines optimisation, ordering, return processes and reduce wastage.
* Train and support the legal, safe and secure handling of medicines, including implementation of the Electronic Prescription Service (EPS) and electronic Repeat Dispensing (eRD).
* Supervise practice reception teams in sorting and streaming general prescription requests.
* Support the implementation of national prescribing policies, conduct clinical audits, quality improvement measures and contribute to the Quality and Outcomes Framework.
* Assist in delivering medicines optimisation incentive schemes and patient safety audits.
Training Requirements
Applicants must be registered with the GPhC and must have completed or be enrolled in, or be prepared to start, an approved 15‑month training pathway (e.g. Primary Care Pharmacy Educational Pathway (PCPEP)) or Medicines Optimisation in Care Homes (MOCH) or other APTUK‑approved courses.
Entry to the PCPEP programme may include an accreditation of Prior Learning (APEL) process.

Experience
* Experience as a qualified, registered pharmacy technician in a patient‑facing role (primary care, community or hospital).
* Experience with IT systems (Microsoft Office and/or clinical systems).
* Experience following set procedures and protocols and working to quality standards.
* Experience working in a busy environment and meeting deadlines.
Desirable
* Understanding of national priorities for the team and service.
* Appreciation of the nature of GPs and general practice prescribing.
* Awareness of common acute and long‑term conditions likely to be seen in general practice.
Qualifications
Essential
* Completion of or enrolment in an approved 18‑month training pathway (e.g. PCPEP or MOCH).
* Continuous professional development activity.
* BTEC/NVQ level 3 or equivalent in pharmaceutical sciences.
* Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
Desirable
* Registration with the Association of Pharmacy Technicians.
