About this role
This role is ideal for an experienced, driven UK payroll professional who thrives in a client‑facing environment and is passionate about delivering a high‑quality payroll service. You will be part of a collaborative payroll team responsible for processing and reviewing approximately weekly and monthly UK payrolls, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and excellent client experience at all times.
You will combine strong technical payroll knowledge with effective communication, supporting clients and internal teams while acting as a trusted subject matter expert. Attention to detail, organisation, and the ability to manage competing deadlines are key to success in this role.
What your days will look like
1. Manage end-to-end UK payroll processing, including calculations, validation checks, reconciliations and final reviews, ensuring accuracy, efficiency and a consistently high-quality service across weekly and monthly payrolls.
2. Maintain compliance by applying correct tax and National Insurance treatment, submitting RTI filings to HMRC, uploading pension contributions and overseeing year-end activities such as P60s, P11Ds and statutory deadlines.
3. Act as a trusted payroll subject matter expert, responding to client and internal queries with clear guidance, resolving issues with HMRC and providers, and supporting colleagues to meet service levels.
4. Support continuous improvement through client onboarding, documentation and process mapping, payroll projects, system enhancements, and training on legislative updates, system changes and more efficient ways of working.

5. You bring strong end-to-end UK payroll knowledge and experience in a client-facing environment, with the confidence to manage multiple payrolls accurately under pressure and to tight deadlines.
6. You communicate clearly and professionally, with excellent written and verbal skills, and enjoy solving problems through critical thinking, sound judgement and a proactive, independent approach.
7. You are highly organised, detail-focused and adaptable, able to balance collaboration with personal accountability while confidently managing your workload and responding to changing priorities.
8. You have strong Excel skills, are comfortable using PowerPoint, committed to continuous development, flexible in supporting the wider team. CIPP qualified or an equivalent qualification is desirable.
