Job Description:
Assistant General Manager | Full Time
At Wagamama, we’re an eating house for the soul. With over 160 UK restaurants and growing, our purpose is to nourish the world from bowl to soul. Inspired by fast-paced, Japanese ramen bars since 1992, Wagamama is a celebration of Asian food brought to life.
We’re looking for an Assistant General Manager to join us on our journey of true nourishment.
The role |
As an Assistant General Manager, you'll be an integral part of the restaurant leadership team, supporting the General Manager in leading the restaurant in the Wagamama way. You’ll embody our people promise, values, and core leadership behaviors. You'll inspire and motivate your team to deliver exceptional service, always striving to exceed expectations. You should have a passion for people, food, and hospitality, and be driven to make positive change.
Benefits include a competitive salary, a £3000 bonus opportunity per year, and an average of £140 tips per week.*
Additional benefits:
* Access up to 30% of your earnings before payday with Wagestream
* Dedicated 6-week training programme
* £14-£25 of free Wagamama food allowance on every shift
* 50% discount at Wagamama and 30% off all other TRG brands with family and friends
* Internal progression opportunities to become a General Manager
* Kintsugi Wellness: access to counselors, cycle-to-work scheme, discounted gym and leisure
* Family-friendly policy: 26 weeks full pay + 13 weeks half pay for expectant or adopting parents
* Financial wellbeing support: salary-based loans for urgent needs
What we look for |
* An experienced hospitality manager capable of leading a restaurant team with positive behavior and driving performance in a fast-paced environment
* A strong communicator who engages in genuine conversations, ensuring your team feels heard and supported
* Experience in understanding financial performance and identifying opportunities
* Ability to manage restaurant and labor budgets
* A passionate leader with experience in team performance and development
* An inspiring individual who motivates their team to flourish
* A forward-thinking problem solver who can make quick decisions
The Wagamama way |
Kaizen, meaning ‘good change,’ is our core philosophy. It influences everything we do, from our food to our work culture, and emphasizes continuous improvement and sustainability.
We celebrate diversity, value personality over perfection, and foster a supportive environment where everyone’s unique story is welcomed. We promise to support you and encourage genuine self-expression.
All we ask is for you to bring your authentic self to Wagamama.
Wagamama is proudly part of Disability Confident.
*Tips are 100% for our teams. The average tips are based on front-of-house management positions across all UK restaurants from 29/05/23 to 02/07/23. Tips vary by restaurant and are left at guests’ discretion; they are not considered wages or guaranteed.
