The Planning Enforcement team at Canterbury City Council are looking for an ambitious and capable Planning Enforcement Officer to join them.

As a Principal Enforcement Officer, you will investigate and manage complex or contentious enforcement cases, including being the lead officer on planning enforcement appeals and court proceedings. You will also lead and guide less experienced officers.
Canterbury has an outstanding built and natural environment, and the Planning Enforcement service plays a fundamental role in preserving the district’s special qualities against breaches of planning control that are harmful to the environment and the quality of life of local residents.
Starting salary £47,307.91 (up to £53,187.22) plus 7.5% current market supplement

About you, the ideal Principal Planning Enforcement Officer for the job:
In addition to holding a degree and a professional planning qualification, you will have;
* Strong negotiation and decision-making.
* Excellent problem-solving skills.
* Thorough knowledge of the land use planning system, the legislative framework and current best practice.
Membership of the RTPI is desirable but not essential.
Due to the nature of this role, it is a politically restricted post. A full driving licence and owning a car are essential.
