Role Overview
Ashford & Canterbury Mental Health Together+ is a diverse multi‑cultural team recruiting a Band 6 Mental Health Nurse to work within the team, providing specialist mental health care for people with multiple and complex needs that require intensive support. The role includes leading the Clozapine and Depot Clinics and developing the Physical Health Clinic, ensuring the highest standards of physical health care for service users. The incumbent will supervise, teach and develop the physical health care skills of junior staff and act as a positive role model, leading in clinical practice and development.
Responsibilities
* Provide specialist mental health care for people with complex needs and intensive support.
* Lead the Clozapine and Depot Clinics and develop the Physical Health Clinic.
* Ensure the highest standards of physical health care, including physical health monitoring such as blood investigations and ECGs.
* Coordinate comprehensive, systematic nursing assessments that consider mental, physical, social, cultural, psychological, spiritual and environmental factors.
* Collaborate with other disciplines, service users and carers to agree a holistic, person‑centred care plan.
* Supervise, teach and develop physical health care skills of junior team members.
Qualifications
* Band 6 Nursing qualification, with a mentoring qualification required.
* Knowledge of working in a clinic and managing clozapine medication.
* Experience in physical health monitoring (blood investigations, ECGs, etc.).
* Full, valid UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for business purposes (unless disabled as defined by the Equality Act 2010).
* Strong initiative, excellent team‑working ability, effective communication skills and self‑governance.
* Willingness to undertake training relevant to the post.
