Deputy Manager – Children's Residential Home
Location: Plymouth, Devon
Pay:
* £36,432 per year - £14.50 per hour (Unqualified or less experienced)
* £37,440 per year - £15.00 per hour (Qualified/experienced)
Shifts:
* 3 shifts per week – 42 hours total (includes some on-call responsibility)

We're looking for a Deputy Manager to support the leadership of our children's home in Plymouth. This is an excellent opportunity for someone ready to step into a key leadership role, working directly with young people and guiding staff to deliver therapeutic, child-centred care.
About the Role
As Deputy Manager, you will:
* Support the Registered Manager in the operational and day-to-day running of the home
* Lead and supervise staff, promoting reflective practice and professional development
* Help ensure the home meets all standards in line with The Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015
* Provide emotional support and create a nurturing environment for young people and staff alike
* Support with rotas, shift planning, and on-call duties
* Act as the senior person on shift in the Registered Manager's absence
* Assist in the development of tailored care plans and risk assessments
* Uphold robust safeguarding practices and compliance across the home
* Build partnerships with external agencies to support positive outcomes for children
Who We're Looking For
We are looking for someone who is:
* Compassionate, emotionally intelligent, and passionate about improving children's lives
* Resilient and confident in supporting young people with complex needs
* Experienced in residential childcare and ready to take the next step in their leadership journey
* Focused on high standards of care, safeguarding, and regulatory compliance
Essential Requirements
* Minimum 2 years' experience (within the last 5 years) working directly with children or young people, ideally from complex or traumatic backgrounds
* At least 1 year of supervisory or senior support experience in a residential childcare setting
* Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
* Level 5 Diploma (or willingness to work towards) is desirable
* Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for business use
