JOB ROLE: Materials Import Coordinator
JOB LOCATION: Selwyn, Shepley
REPORTING TO: Senior Supply Chain Manager
Shepley Spring are the UK’s leading bottled water manufacturer with over 20 years’ experience in production and are proud to remain a family run business to this day.
The company operates in three manufacturing facilities in Yorkshire and owns several high-speed production lines with the capabilities of producing both still and sparkling water servicing leading retailers such as Morrisons, Lidl, Booker Tesco and Sainsbury through private label and produces the brands Ice Valley and White Rock exclusively.
Summary:
As we embark on further growth at Shepley Spring a new role has been created to enable delivering a new and improved import process, they will be responsible for managing and optimising the Raw materials availability for the business. The management of the Import process will require full end to end ownership from supplier to site, The role ensures seamless coordination between procurement, production and warehousing, ensuring timely delivery of raw materials across UK and International Import suppliers while minimising costs and maintaining quality standards.
Job Specfication:
Order & Inventory Management:
* Using the agreed supplier lists to place orders, manage stock levels and control costs.
* Monitor and maintain optimal inventory levels to prevent shortages or overstocking.
* Coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely deliveries and resolve any supply issues.
* Track supplier performance to ensure OTIF numbers are upheld.
Import Management:
* Work closely with our US partners on implementing and managing the international Import process for Raw materials.
* Managing Freight Cargo import system – such as MSC.
* Ensure clearance and payments processed on time.
* Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers.
* Manage VMI process for 3rd party production site.
Quality Control & Compliance:
* Ensure all supply chain activities adhere to food safety, health, and environmental regulations.
* Maintain accurate records of shipments, inventory levels, and supplier agreements.
* Assist in audits related to supply chain and logistics operations.
* Identify areas for process optimisation and cost reduction in the supply chain.
* Implement best practices and industry trends to enhance operational efficiency.
* Utilise supply chain management software for tracking and reporting purposes.
* Knowledge and Experience in Cargo Freight Import process – Required.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to liaise effectively with stakeholders across the business.
* High attention to detail and strong numerical skills.
* Ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and manage multiple priorities.
* Strong commercial awareness, particularly within the Food & Beverage industry.
* Proactive approach to identifying areas for improvement and cost savings.
* Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
Qualification & Experience:
* Import Logistics experience or Qualifications, or a related field OR 2+ years of experience in supply chain, logistics, or procurement within a manufacturing environment (preferably in the bottled water or FMCG sector).
* Strong knowledge of inventory management, procurement practices, and logistics coordination.
* Proficiency in ERP systems and supply chain management software.
* Understanding of regulatory requirements related to food safety and packaging materials.
* Excellent organisational and multitasking abilities.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Effective communication and negotiation skills.
* Attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other supply chain management tools.
