Pastoral Manager (Behaviour Focus)
Location: Darwen, Lancashire
Start Date: September 2026
Contract: Full-time, Term Time Only (plus INSET days)
We are seeking a committed, resilient, and compassionate Pastoral Manager to join our dedicated pastoral team at a mainstream secondary school in Darwen. This is a rewarding opportunity for an individual who is passionate about supporting young people to succeed both academically and personally.
The Role
The successful candidate will play a key role in promoting positive behaviour and supporting students to overcome barriers to learning. Working closely with Heads of Year, senior leaders, and teaching staff, you will provide targeted pastoral support, helping to foster a safe, inclusive, and respectful school environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Supporting the management of student behaviour across the school
* Working with individuals and small groups to improve engagement and conduct
* Responding to behaviour incidents and implementing restorative approaches
* Building positive relationships with students, families, and external agencies
* Monitoring and tracking behaviour data to inform interventions
* Supporting safeguarding and student wellbeing as part of the wider pastoral team
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
* Previous experience in a pastoral, behaviour, or student support role (preferred)
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills
* The ability to remain calm under pressure and manage challenging situations effectively
* A firm but fair approach to behaviour management
* A genuine commitment to improving outcomes for young people

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
