Job Summary
Consultant in Specialist Rehabilitation is required to develop and support existing services across South, West, Mid and East Wales, including the developing Prolonged Disorders of Consciousness (PDOC) service and Major Trauma Centre (MTC). The closing date is 05 July 2026.
Responsibilities
* Provide care in specialist Neuro and Spinal Rehabilitation Units for adults across Wales.
* Conduct two weekly outpatient clinics for Complex Disability and Traumatic Brain Injury.
* Support PDOC assessment and follow‑up.
* Ensure consistent Rehab Medicine support to the Major Trauma Centre throughout the working week.
* Engage in academic activities; conduct research and teaching in collaboration with Cardiff University School of Medicine.
Essential Qualifications
* Full GMC registration with a licence to practice.
* On Specialist Register for Rehabilitation Medicine or within six months of expected CCT at time of interview.
* At least two years postgraduate training in specialist rehabilitation.
Desirable Qualifications
* Higher degree (MD, PhD or equivalent).
Essential Experience
* Specialist rehabilitation experience in Neuro or Spinal Rehabilitation.
Desirable Experience
* Experience managing Neurorehabilitation services.

* Effective team and multidisciplinary working.
* Excellent written and spoken English communication skills.
* Competent IT skills.
Clinical Governance
* Participation in clinical audit and understanding role of audit in practice.
* Understanding of clinical risk management and governance.
* Proactive engagement with appraisal and revalidation.
Research
* Evidence of active research interests.
* Ability to critically appraise research.
Teaching
* Evidence of teaching medical/dental students and resident doctors.
Management
* Commitment to participating in management processes.
* Effective leadership skills.
