A Senior Waking Night Coach (residential support worker) at SuperCare provides safety, stability, and reassurance for young people with complex learning disabilities and associated conditions/syndromes such as: ADHD, ASC, ASD, Autism, Epilepsy, Down Syndrome, Global Delay Development and Fetal Alcohol Syndrome.
You'll be the steady presence during the night - helping children feel safe and cared for when they are at their most vulnerable and also be a role model for less experienced colleagues. You'll bring calm, reassurance and expertise when the night feels unsettled.
What You'll Do:
No two nights are the same in this home however there are some strong routines. We look for adults in our homes to be able to provide both direct care and guidance to the team and support as below:
* Provide overnight supervision, ensuring children are safe and supported.
* Respond calmly to sleep disturbances, impulsivity, or emotional outbursts, including self-injury.
* Support with personal care and administer medication where required.
* Offer gentle reassurance when children wake anxious, distressed, or confused.
* Respond quickly and safely to safeguarding concerns.
* Model safe practice for junior colleagues during incidents.
* Keep records and ensure clear handovers to day staff.
* Hold a full UK driving licence to support emergencies or transport needs.
What We're Looking For:
We're looking for senior waking night staff with both resilience and experience supporting young people with additional needs/syndromes in a residential setting:
* Stong background supporting young people with additional needs such as learning disabilities, Autism, ADHD, Global Delay Development, Epilepsy and Fetal Alcohol Syndrome.
* You stay calm under pressure and emotionally steady when children cannot regulate themselves.
* You understand how differences like sensory overload, communication barriers, impulsivity and disrupted sleep can affect children with autism, ADHD, Down syndrome, ASD, ASC and Fetal Alcohol Syndrome.
* With a trauma-informed and attachment-aware approach, you offer comfort, predictability and reassurance.
* Able to reassure and guide less experienced staff.
* Physically fit, alert, and dependable.
* Must have Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare.
* Extensive experience in children's residential care.
* 2+ years as a residential support worker.
* Must hold a full UK driving licence.
