Girlings Personal Injury Claims Ltd is looking for an experienced paralegal to join its successful personal injury team in Sandwich. The successful applicant can expect to be managing a mixed caseload of minor injury claims which they will assume responsibility for.

JOB TITLE: Paralegal

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:
* Handling a mixed caseload of approximately 20-30 personal injury cases, including road traffic accidents, employer’s liability, occupiers liability, public liability, and criminal injury;
* Handling multi cases as well as fast track, both pre litigation and post litigation. Mostly Claimant work but on occasion Defendant work;
* Instructing medical experts, counsel, medical agencies and preparing applications to courts and preparing court bundle, drafting witness statements, court documents, costs schedules and applying for legal expenses insurance;
* Dealing with insurers, solicitors, counsel, courts, experts and clients on a daily basis;
* Dealing with MOJ portal claims, Medco, Askcue, and the relevant Protocols and legislation;
* Adhering to client care and funding rules, retainers, legal expenses insurance policies and money laundering regulations as well as the Solicitor Account Rules;
* Dealing with road traffic legislation, the Civil Procedure Rules, laws on evidence, maintaining knowledge and staying up to date with legislation changes, case law, Judicial College Guidelines (JCG), client care and money laundering regulations;
* Complying with LEXCEL requirements, internal audit and law society regulations;
* Complying with rules of all relevant professional bodies;
* Checking identification and certifying documents and identification documents (if appropriate);
* Billing responsibilities– dealing with ledgers and billing in a timely fashion;
* Working to various deadlines including court deadlines and limitation deadlines as well as monitoring third parties' deadlines;
* Compliance with the Company’s routine time recording, accounts and administrative disciplines;
* Assisting with the provision of holiday cover;
* Attending Litigation/PI Department meetings and such training courses as determined necessary to maintain personal skills and knowledge base;
* Compliance with limitation system, T-cards and five year diary;
* The attainment of realistic set targets;
* Following supplier’s operating manual and maintaining files to required standard;
* Dealing with issue of proceedings including Part 8 applications;
* Attending court appointments;
* Day to day liaison with Director;
