Why are we recruiting? The Infrastructure Automation Engineering drives improvement and transformation of the PayPoint technology estate and related services, thus ensuring sustainable and optimum uptime, self-healing and weekly releases whilst using market and agile best practises. This will include working with legacy environments as well as pushing forward with the next generation of cloud technology. Automating everything we do ensures a constant and repeatable approach. The position will be a mix of Remote working and the occasional visit to our bright and modern offices in Welwyn Garden City What will you be doing? As a member of the Automation team you will ensure that the automation of tasks is at the forefront of speed to deployment for new projects or existing improvements to the infrastructure. As part of your day to day work you will liaise with other Infrastructure teams (Infrastructure, Network or DBA teams) and apply Automation/DevOps skills to further innovate and develop our delivery in a very busy service focused environment. Responsibilities of the role Drive improvements through identifying where automation would drive, optimal reliability, availability and performance of Infrastructure services Identity and deliver on opportunities for technical and process improvements driven by automation Ownership of project work and BAU work to ensure automation from start to finish Assist with Projects and Infrastructure Delivery to ensure new services are engineered and provisioned according to the needs of the business and are compliant with production standards Enforcing the policies, standards and design principles for the infrastructure and services globally by the implementation of automation Proactively driving automation of infrastructure tasks to reduce time overheads on standard practices Identifying improvements to existing processes Continual service improvement through best practise and new and innovative technologies Ensure performance metrics and monitoring is in place and provides the necessary details and alerts in line with the business expectations What would we like from you? Minimum 6 years Production Infrastructure Support and at least 3 years of Automation experience. Minimum 3 years DevOps experience in an agile environment. Proven experience of scripting and automation with PowerShell, Bash, Python, SQL, Terraform Further proven experience in the following - bug analysis and fixing Ansible (or Puppet or Chef) containerisation (Docker and K8's an advantage) Jenkins (Or similar) VMWare scripting, Hyper-V scripting, NetApp scripting Ideally we would like excellent knowledge in the following - Windows Desktop and Server OS's (including related services such as DNS, AD) Linux (including related services) Expert knowledge of System Center (Including SCCM, SCOM, VMM) - Deployment and Support Microsoft Azure Technologies Expert knowledge of GIT (or similar MSTFS, etc) It would be great if you already have… PCI-DSS compliance Experience of Windows Storage Spaces and Storage Spaces Direct Experience of SQL Databases Experience of MongoDB Experience supporting and deploying network technologies such as Cisco and F5 technologies What can we do for you?
