Overview
Teach a range of clinical skills and practical procedures to undergraduate medical students as part of the Cambridge Medical School undergraduate medical curriculum. Assist in the coordination, preparation and delivery of the University of Cambridge formative reviews. Coordinate teaching equipment and simulators in the Clinical Skills Lab and maintain stock levels for teaching sessions.
Responsibilities
* Provide venepuncture, cannulation and ABG gases training for new Foundation Doctors Year 1 during their Preparing for Professional Practice Week, and for Locally Employed Doctors / GP Trainees with no NHS experience.
* Work under the guidance of the Clinical Sub Dean from Cambridge to ensure the delivery of the teaching programme for medical students on placement at Hinchingbrooke Hospital.
* Organise and deliver clinical skills teaching as per timetables, in line with the requirements of the undergraduate medical curriculum from Cambridge Medical School.
* Develop resources to facilitate safe and effective delivery of practical skills for students in a ward setting, supporting transition from the Clinical Skills Laboratory base to the ward environment.
* Assist in the design and implementation of practical assessments throughout the undergraduate medical course as required by Cambridge Medical School.
* Collaborate with clinicians and other key trainers throughout the Trust to ensure the undergraduate skills training programme develops in response to identified clinical needs.
* Maximise opportunistic teaching opportunities with individual students in the clinical environment.
* Actively participate in quality assurance processes to ensure high-quality training, and support principles of clinical governance. Attend yearly Quality Assurance Visits by Cambridge Medical School.
