The Intercultural Connections Initiative (ICI) is a Scotland-registered Community Interest Company dedicated to international cultural exchange, creative collaboration, and global arts development.
ICI is the organiser of Chinese Culture Week (CCW), presented within the framework of Festivals Edinburgh, showcasing Chinese heritage, contemporary performance, cultural brands, and international dialogue at the world's leading arts festival platform. CCW recently won the Marketing Campaign of the Year Award hosted by the CBBC.
Beyond CCW, ICI supports:
l International touring and cultural exchange projects
l The IC Award recognising outstanding global artistic works
l Artist development and international delegation programmes
l Cross-border creative partnerships between the UK, China, and beyond
We operate at the intersection of culture, diplomacy, entrepreneurship, and creative innovation.

Role Description
We are seeking a dynamic and culturally aware Social Media Officer based in Edinburgh to lead and grow ICI's digital presence, primarily across Instagram, LinkedIn, and related platforms.
This role is central to strengthening ICI's international profile, engaging artists and partners, and supporting audience development across our cultural initiatives.
The successful candidate will combine creativity with strategic thinking and be comfortable working within a small, fast-paced, entrepreneurial team.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Social Media Strategy & Planning
Develop and implement a content strategy aligned with ICI's vision and annual objectives
Create monthly and quarterly content plans
Identify audience growth opportunities across Instagram, LinkedIn, and other relevant platforms
2. Content Creation
Produce high-quality visual and written content (posts, reels, carousels, stories, short-form video)
Draft engaging captions tailored to professional (LinkedIn) and creative (Instagram) audiences
Capture and edit video/photo content during events, rehearsals, meetings, and festivals
Maintain visual consistency and brand tone
3. Account Management
Manage day-to-day posting and scheduling
Monitor comments, messages, and audience engagement
Maintain consistent brand presence and voice
Track analytics and optimise performance
4. Campaign Support
Support digital promotion of:
Chinese Culture Week
IC Award
Artist showcases
Delegation visits
Cultural exchange initiatives
Assist in developing campaign concepts for festival periods and major announcements
5. Reporting & Growth
Provide monthly performance reports with clear insights and recommendations
Analyse engagement metrics and adjust strategy accordingly
Stay informed about social media trends and emerging formats

Qualifications
Based in Edinburgh (or able to work regularly on-site)
Proven experience managing Instagram and LinkedIn accounts professionally
Strong visual storytelling ability
Excellent written English (copywriting skills essential)
Competent in video editing tools (e.g., CapCut, Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or similar)
Experience using Canva or equivalent design tools
Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple projects
Comfortable working independently in a small team environment
Genuine interest in arts, culture, international exchange, or creative industries
